The ability to play an instrument enhances life in general, affects ones emotions, strengthens cognitive processes and helps foster the important skill of self-discipline. Music is the expression of life!
Playing with feeling, using dynamics and proper phrasing to bring out the colors of each piece, is essential. Good position and technique are vital. I love to help my students get in touch with their passion!
It is a fundamental skill to read music in order to learn and play effectively throughout life. If you can read words, you can learn to read music. We learn to read music in both clefs, to recognize intervals, to count and keep rhythm, and we do both music theory and music history.
While practice is hard work, especially for those with busy schedules, I stress the importance of the discipline of setting a regular schedule with a positive attitude. At my studio we learn to appreciate music of all kinds with instruction in the classical, blues, pop, rock and jazz styles.
